SMEs to get grants for professional advice

Small and medium-sized businesses in England will receive Government funding under a new £20 million grant scheme to help cover accountancy and other professional fees.

The grants, which were announced at the end of July, range from £1,000 to £5,000 and can be used by SMEs to pay for professional, legal, financial or other advice to help them recover from the coronavirus pandemic.

They can also be used to purchase minor equipment or adopt new technology in order to continue to deliver business activity or diversify.

To access the funding, businesses can apply through the growth hub in their local enterprise partnership area.
Simon Clarke, minister for regional growth and local government, said:

"Businesses will be able to use these new grants to pay for the expertise, equipment and technology they need to adapt, recover and rebuild.

"Small and medium sized businesses are the beating heart of communities; they provide employment and contribute significantly to local economies and we are determined to give them the support they need to continue to thrive."
